Tai Chi in The Park returns to Nelson
27 July 2016
Local Health Champions Lighthouse Tai Chi are back by popular demand and making a welcome return to the park, following the success of last year’s Tai Chi in the Park event.
Pendle residents and visitors are invited to try health boosting tai chi in Victoria Park, Nelson this summer; every Tuesday 1.30 – 2.30pm for 4 weeks starting on the 2nd of August 2016, for free.
If you are a beginner or have experience you will be able to join in. Children are also welcome with a participating responsible adult.
The sessions will be held on the bowling green behind the café if the weather is fine, or under the bandstand if it rains. The Pavilion Café will be open specially to support the event.
This free event is sponsored by registered charity East Lancashire into Employment, who offer specialist support and training to local people with disabilities and health issues, who wish to set up in self-employment.
Instructor Helena says: “Last summer over 20 local people took part each week and there was a special attendance by Pendle MP Andrew Stephenson. Some people had seen the film ‘The Calendar Girls’ and others had seen the daily tai chi in the parks of China and just fancied giving it a go”.
With fellow instructor David, the dynamic tai chi duo, who provide weekly tai chi sessions for Pendle Leisure in Nelson and Colne, will be leading the fun, follow-along sessions: “Everyone is welcome to join us and to do as much or as little as they wish.”
