Cardiac Rehab

Cardiac Rehab is a community based programme for cardiac rehabilitation and secondary prevention of heart disease. It is aimed at men and women of any age who have previously suffered heart problems including heart disease, angina, heart attacks, bypass, valve replacement and transplant surgery. Anyone diagnosed with cardiac disease is eligible, provided that a referral form from a doctor can be obtained.

The aim of the programme is to improve and maintain the physical and mental well-being of sufferers of all forms of heart disease

Objectives

  • To provide initial and re-assessments of fitness for the purpose of prescribing safe and effective exercise
  • To provide opportunities for exercising in a safe and effective supervised environment
  • To construct coronary risk profiles for the purpose of secondary prevention through risk management
