Ivor - Hyndurn

06 November 2018

Ivor joined Up and Active through the Cardiac Rehab Programme.

My experience was a very good one.  The whole team Marie, Mark and Zuber have been excellent in their advice, help and encouragement.  I was overweight when I started the Up and Active Cardiac Rehab Programme and the education, the basic life support skills, healthy eating and the benefits of exercise have all helped me.  It is all helping with my rehabilitation.  I have now lost two stone in weight and feel better about myself.  The Up & Active Team even picked up on my low blood pressure during my review and my Doctor has since adjusted my medication. Many thanks.

Ivor sent us an update in May 2019:

I have attended the Royal Blackburn Hospital on 06.01.19 for my review with Dr Balachandran in the outpatient department and he is pleased with my progress from a cardiac point of view. I am well and have noticed a substantial change in my symptoms and wellbeing. I have not needed to use the GTN spray for some time now, my lifestyle has changed considerably and this in turn has helped me in controlling my blood pressure and weight. I no longer need certain tablets for blood pressure and will stop taking clopidogrel in April. Other tablets are also being reduced.

Thanks to all the Up & Active team for all your advice and support I do not think I would have done this without you all, Marie, Mark and Zuber. Many thanks, I have now been discharged from the hospital.

Ivor.

Note from Dr K P Balachandran, Consultant Cardiologist

It was a pleasure to review Ivor who came along to my Outpatient clinic at Royal Blackburn Hospital on 6th January 2019. He is very well from a cardiac point of view and has noticed a substantial improvement in symptoms following the successful PCI in March. He has got very good effort capacity and cannot remember the last time he had to use the GTN spray. In addition he has significantly modified his lifestyle and this has resulted in much better blood pressure control with in fact, Amlodipine now being stopped. He has also lost weight and this not surprisingly has resulted in improved wellbeing.
