Pendle Health Week

21 August 2017

We've been busy planning lots of fun and informative activities across Pendle.  We've also teamed up with Pendle Leisure Trust to offer free taster sessions for some of their most popular activities. - Click here for the timetable.

Saturday 16 September

Family fun and Sports day at Seedhill Athletics Track, Nelson from 10am.  Get all the family together with this fun event.  You'll need a team of 6 with a mix of ages from under 10 to over 60.  There'll be some fun and traditional sports day events, and lots to keep the kids busy all day. Monday 18 September

We'll be at Yarnspinners Health Centre from 9am - 1pm in Nelson asking people if they know their numbers.  We will be offering health checks and information around our popular Up and Active exercise and weight management sessions.  Why not pop in for a chat about how to get more active?

Do your mile a day in your lunchbreak!  We'll be meeting at Seedhill Athletics Track at 12.15 every day to do a one mile walk.  This should take 30-40 minutes so you'll be finished in time to get back to work!

 

Tuesday 19 September

We'll be at Colne Health Centre from 9am - 1pm asking people if they know their numbers.  We will be offering health checks and information around our popular Up and Active exercise and weight management sessions.  Why not pop in for a chat about how to get more active?

Wednesday 20 September

Wednesday is our Green Day.  We'll be having an open day at the Good Life alltoments from 10am - 3pm.  There'll be activites and demonstrations througout the day for everyone to participate in, including cooking, growing and using your own fruit and vegetables, gardening as an activity for health and craft activities.

Thusday 21 September

We'll be leading a walk up Pendle Hill with groups from across East Lancashire.  Meet at the Car Park in Barley at 10am for a fun walk up Pendle.

If you feel that walking up Pendle Hill is a step too far for you then we have a lower level walk, which is approximately 2 miles (with a slight gradient) starting at 10am, meeting at Barley Village car park BB12 9LD.

We'll also be at Earby Surgery from 9am - 1pm asking people if they know their numbers.  We will be offering health checks and information around our popular Up and Active exercise and weight management sessions.  Why not pop in for a chat about how to get more active?

As part of the Lancashire Mile day we'll be encouraging as many people as possible to walk, run, swim, or cycle a mile today.  Why not let us know on social media how you've done yours - use the hastag #YourMileYourWay.  We'll even be inviting the Mayor of Pendle to walk a mile in Nelson with us!

We'll be continuing the walking theme with a walking football tournament at Primet High School.  Walking Football teams from across Lancashire are welcome to enter the tournament.  We'll be offering health checks from 5.30pm and the tournament starts at 6pm.

 

Friday 22 September

Today is all about our schools and young children.  We've invited school children from several Pendle Primary schools to join us for fun activities and games to get them both physically active and learn more about healthy eating in the process.

Saturday 23 September

We've teamed up with Lightouse Tai Chi to offer a free Tai Chi in the park taster session.  This will be held at Victoria Park, Nelson

 

Sunday 24 September

You'll find us at the Pedal Pendle family event at the Steven Burke cycle hub in Barrowford.  There'll be lots to do for the whole family.
