18 July 2018

4th Annual Summer Tai Chi in Victoria Park

Lighthouse Tai Chi is returning with free Tai Chi in Victoria Park, Nelson again this summer.  East Lancashire residents and visitors are invited to try Tai Chi every Tuesday 1.30 - 2.30pm for four weeks from 31 July 2018.

Absolute beginners and people with any level of experience are welcome to take part in the sessions, which will be held on the bowling green behind the Pavillion Cafe, off Carr Road.

It is sponsored by the Mardsen Building Society, Pendle Borough Council Parks, Pendle Leisure Trust, Up & Active, Mobile Masters Ltd and Oddies Bakery.

This free event will be oficially opened on 31 July at 1pm by the Deputy Mayor and Mayoress of Pendle and there will be a special launch blessing with a Chinese Lion Dance performance.

The Pavililon Cafe will be opening to support the event, and children are also welcome with a participating adult.  Everyone attending can register for a barcode either on the day or in advance by clicking on the 'Register' button on the top right-hand corner of this page.

Lighthouse Tai Chi owner and instructor David says: "Last summer over 120 people took part on the opening day and there were nearly 400 attendances over the 4 weeks.  People of all ages, from 6 to 96 and of all abilities took part and all communities from East Lancashire supported the event, enjoying some healthy outdoor Tai Chi together.  Everyone is welcome to do as much or as little as they wish"

With fellow instructor Helena, David teaches 18 weekly Tai Chi sessions across East Lancashire.  6 weekly sessions are provided in Pendle.  "We regularly teach up to 300 people per week, but the outdoor sessions in Vicotria Park help us to reach out futher into the community, allowing people to bring their children.  The setting is so lovely and relaxing"
